Personality Assessments

Social scientists have developed and tested a wide variety of assessment instruments that can be helpful in identifying and confirming areas of personal strength and potential weakness. Some of these instruments have been developed by psychologists and industrial psychologists, with a primary focus on personality factors. Other instruments focus on factors including the following criteria:

  • leadership behaviors
  • factors associated with career interests and goals
  • competencies, including those that may cause career derailment
  • emotional intelligence
  • critical skills such as ethical decision making, communication, teamwork, crosscultural intelligence and competence, and problem-solving
